Open Question: Should I dress down to make my female coworkers like me?

A little background on me. I am a 30 year old lady and my dream was to be a fashion designer but I am an in IT. So I adore stylish outfit and like to dress up. Few years back when I had a new baby, going to school and working full time I didn't had time to dress up and eveyone liked me then. I am in a different work place now and most women seem to dislike me without any appearant reason. isolates me, give me short answer with serious face when I try to be friendly. ignores me in the meetings. but they are very nice with everyone else. I do receive many complements from men but I don't flirt. I am not trying to attract anyone, I am married and I adore my husband. Seems like my dressing up sending wrong messages to them.....should I sacrifice my adore for style? :-(

Open Question: Fellow atheists: a thought for your consideration please?

It's easy to paint Christians out to be monsters/ignorant/stupid etc. but in reality, this seems rather unfair at least in the majority of cases. I look so often that atheists quote the inconsistencies, irationalities or immoral laws from the Bible and I agree that it is good for a Christian to give thought to these questions but there's a flaw in many of your attitudes that is ethically irrational and irresponsible itself. The reality is that most Christians DON'T rock homosexuals, disobediant kids, people who work on the sabbath etc. and they DON'T read commandments of God to rip open the foe's pregnant women, rape the maidens etc. and agree support them. For most Christians, they have faith in a nice and loving God and they have a personal relationship with him. They follow their conscience in the same way as any of us do but they just believe it to be divine or the Holy Spirit. If they even read these controversial parts of the Bible then they probably don't think about them because they have faith in the God that they know themselves and He would not do that. They don't generally allow it to overrule their conscience. It just means that there are things they don't know and that's okay. Now you and I may find this thinking a little dodgy but I think we should keep in mind that their reactions to this criticism is more to do with feeling below threat than a defense of the immoral. So we need to show more respect for Christians even while we point out flaws in the Bible, faith or bad/ignorant people who also happen to be Christians. Continuing to act in the vitriolic fashion that I look some (not necessarily the majority of) atheists displaying on this forum is decidedly unhelpful if your goal is to challenge with a view to educating or changing attitudes that you consider to be wrong or unhelpful so either you're dishonest or just mean and that just feeds into the incorrect perception of atheists shared by some Christians.

Open Question: Is there any scope in working in the fashion industry?

I have heard often that the fashion industry is going down and it is very difficult to find a job at the moment. Especially with the whole recession and credit crunch going on. I have to apply for uni this year and i want to be sure that going into the fashion industry will at least receive me somewhere and leave me other options if i fail in something else. i want to go into fashion designing but i don't want to be left at dead end. I will be going to uni next year so in about 4-5 years time i will be working. i need some advice about the fashion industry in the future and whether it will be a good field to go into. It will be very useful if any advice can be given from someone who is currently in the industry.

Open Question: I have a question for all you older Democrats?

I'm in my mid thirties and I contend that the majority of the Republican base today are Baby Boomers and every still alive that are older than that. I base this on the fact that most of these folks simply have not had to participate in the economy of Bush and only in a limited fashion in the economy of Reagan. However, I'd like to hear your reasoning for being an older Democrat as you are apparently quite wise. How have you been able to look through every the Republican nonsense even while growing up in clearly better economic times?

Open Question: What three mini-desserts can I offer together? And what hot drink can I serve with it?

I just bought a Tassimo hot beverage maker. You know, the machine that makes - deep breath - American coffee, Cappuccino, Twinings English tea, Suchard Hot chocolate, Carte Noire Crema Intenso, Latte Machiato, and a good-old-fashioned espresso. Anyway... I want to try making a selection of different mini-desserts for different drinks. Say, three flavours for each drink. (I've got a lota time on my hands, and a lota friends who want to try the machine) So, what I've got as the perfect accompanying flavours are: 1) Lemon cake, vanilla ice and chopped fresh mango, ...to go with the tea. 2) Brownie, pot of hot fudge, fresh half-strawberries, ... to go with an espresso. And.... ...after that, I'm running out of ideas. So, anyone want to push in their perfect trinity of desserts and prefered hot drink for a perfect gourmet moment? Best wishes, thanks and two points to each person who answers

Open Question: How should i decorate my new teen room (P.S. I am a guy)???

Hi. So my Mum has just given me the master bedroom to our home. I know, I'm lucky... In it i have a walk-in-wardrobe and an Ensuite. I'm not sure if the bedroom is classified as tiny or not, but it's dimensions are 18' x 17'. The walk-in-wardrobe is 11' x 9'. Basically, what i am looking for is design ideas that can help me turn this room into "ME". I want it to reflect my style, but still be uber-chilly and super stylish and sophisticated at the same time. I am 17, and i dont plan on moving out until about 25, so permanency is not an issue. Also, the budget is unlimited. I will briefly list some of my interests and style tastes so that you may receive a better feel of who "I" am. My Interests •Photography •Reading •Writing •Watching movies •Listening to music •Editing photos •Surfing the internet •Planning •Fashion •Style •Video games My Style/Taste •Eclectic, including: •African •Egyptian •Roman •Oriental •Mexican/Spanish/Aztec •Things that evoke a sense of age and epic-ness e.g. LOTR, 300, 10,000BC •Ancient Civilisations •Modern •Classy •Sophisticated •Retro •Grunge •Expensive •Adventurist (my possess word, apparently) Here are some pics of me. I guess showing you who i am might make it easier for you to 'look' who i am. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ethan_9219/sets/72157602346493483/ It would be great if anybody has any ideas that may reflect anything that i mentioned or you think would suit me. I am open to other ideas that you may have that are chilly but are different to what i mentioned. I think it would help for you to look the space i will be working with. So here is a picture of my room's layout: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ethan_9219/2802841153/ One thing that i want to have in my room is a giant photograph taking up either a full wall, or most of it. If anybody has any ideas of what would be the perfect iconic image to use in this situation they would be much appreciated. I look forward to hearing everybody's ideas and suggestions. Thanks heaps, Ethan

Open Question: What is a good middle name for "Jesse"?

I'm not pregnant, but I know that I can be, and we're trying... so hopefully soon... But if we have a son, my husband wants his first name to be Jesse after him. So, we'll definitely have to call him his middle name. The only ideas I really have are Donivan: After MY grandfather Theodore: after his, but some people consider the name to be old fashioned, it's nicknames "Theo" and "Teddy" are nice of cute though, but I can't help but wonder how he'll like it when he's older. Patrick Thomas Victor Which one of those is the best? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks! I've always liked the name James, and I think it sounds great as a middle name to Jesse... But I don't know if that would give others a preconceived notion of him, seeing as though a famous criminal was named the same.. Ah! I'm nice of torn! I like Donivan Too, my grandpa's first name is James, so naming him James Donivan, would make him a JD, which is what they call my grandpa. Anyways... I dunno... so confusing! Girls names are so much easier! :-D I meant "Jesse Donivan" :-) My grandpa's name is James Donivan, but everyone except his kids and grandkids and wife call him JD. :-)
